-Add light throughout

It might not be to late to add a little extra light in just the right places around the home. We have found that in most cases we are able to add recessed lighting in kitchens and bedrooms. Kitchens also serve as a social center in many homes. It is important to provide a number of lighting techniques that will provide plenty of both ambient and task lighting.

-Replace old outdated fixtures

According to ENERGY STAR, “By replacing the five most frequently used light fixtures in your home with ENERGY STAR qualified models, you can save more than $65 each year in energy costs.”

In many instances older homes have fixtures installed that are simply inadequate for the location in which they serve. When this is the case, most fixtures have been exposed to over lamping for years. This could cause damage to both the fixture and the wiring.
